2.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we receive:

  • Email Address: Your Google account email for authentication
  • Display Name: Your name as shown on your Google profile
  • Profile Picture: Your Google profile photo (optional display)
  • Country Code: Used for regional pricing and payment processing

2.2 Content Data

  • Audio Processing: Audio captured from browser tabs is processed in real-time for transcription. Audio is not permanently stored on our servers.
  • Transcripts: Text generated from your audio transcription sessions
  • Translations: Translated versions of your transcripts (English, Vietnamese, Japanese, French)
  • AI Summaries: AI-generated summaries, keywords, and key points from your sessions
  • Chat History: Your questions and AI responses from the RAG chat assistant
  • Session Metadata: Session names, language settings, duration, and timestamps

2.3 Usage Data

  • Transcription Minutes: Minutes of audio transcribed per session and total
  • Translation Minutes: Minutes of content translated
  • Session Counts: Number of transcription sessions created
  • Feature Usage: Which features you use (summaries, translation, chat)
  • Language Preferences: Your preferred source and target languages

2.4 Technical Data

  • Browser Information: Browser type and version
  • Device Information: Operating system and device type
  • IP Address: For security and regional services
  • Cookies: Authentication tokens and session management

2.5 Payment Data

  • Transaction History: Records of your purchases and subscriptions
  • Payment Method: Processed securely by PayOS (Vietnam) or Payhip (international). We do not store your credit card details directly.

3. Chrome Extension Permissions

Echo me requests the following browser permissions:

  • tabCapture: Captures audio from browser tabs for transcription. Audio is processed and not stored.
  • storage: Stores your preferences and cached session data locally on your device
  • identity: Enables secure Google Sign-In authentication
  • sidePanel: Displays the transcription interface in the browser sidebar
  • activeTab & tabs: Allows interaction with the current tab for audio capture

The extension does not collect data when not actively in use. Audio capture only occurs when you explicitly start a transcription session.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide real-time transcription and translation services
  • Generate AI summaries and enable the RAG chat assistant
  • Save and organize your transcription sessions
  • Process payments and manage your subscription tier
  • Track usage against your plan limits
  • Send important service notifications
  • Improve our AI models using anonymized, aggregated data
  • Detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized use

5. Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored using the following services:

  • Google Cloud Platform: User data, sessions, and transcript files
  • Local Browser Storage: Preferences and cached data

Data retention periods:

  • Audio: Processed in real-time and not permanently stored
  • Transcripts & Sessions: Retained until you delete them or close your account
  • Usage Data: Retained for up to 2 years for analytics
  • Account Data: Retained while your account is active

6. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with the following service providers:

  • Google OAuth: For secure account authentication
  • Google Cloud Platform: For data storage and AI processing
  • OpenAI/Whisper: For speech-to-text transcription processing
  • PayOS: For payment processing (Vietnam users)
  • Payhip: For payment processing (international users)

We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights and users.

We implement security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
